Trishaws like the one above once amassed along Singapore River and City Hall. Today, these trishaws are mainly driven by elderly man who are trying to make a living out of this dying trait.
Recently, I encountered an elderly trishaw man at the cross section outside Raffles City. I was saddened to see that despite the huge crowd around him, most of us are oblivious to the continuous ringing of his trishaw bell. The man was trying to attract the attention of tourists to take a ride on his trishaw, but to no avail.
One day I will love to experience a ride around the city on a trishaw (armed with my camera). Hopefully, however unglamorous the job might be, there will be Singaporeans who appreciate these trishaws riders on their contribution to tourism in Singapore.
